FAQ

The Studio
La Black Mamba Studio rises where the natural landscape of the Okanagan meets a contemporary vision of tattooing. Every corner is designed for the artwork to breathe with clarity.

Here all styles coexist under a single, refined sensibility.

Serving clients across the Okanagan Valley, including Kelowna, West Kelowna, and Penticton, our studio focuses on delivering detailed, high-quality tattoos in a professional and welcoming environment.

The experience unfolds intimately, with dedicated time and an environment that encourages calm, precision, and professionalism.

In this space, a tattoo is not a service; it is a guided and considered process, created so each client feels supported from the first idea to the final photograph.
Additional Guests
Our tattoo room is an intimate working space. To keep the atmosphere calm and focused, companions are invited to wait in the reception area. They may step in briefly to capture a photo during the session, and again once the tattoo is finished.

Children
For safety, young children should remain in the reception area with a supervising adult, and for no longer than one-hour sessions.

Pets
We love them, but animals are not permitted in the studio during tattoo sessions for health reasons.
Photo Guidelines
We photograph every tattoo to preserve it in our visual archive. To keep the composition clean and timeless, we kindly suggest avoiding bright colors or bold patterns.

Neutral tones and simple silhouettes let your tattoo remain the focus. Black, white, sand, or soft beige always photograph beautifully.
Studio Conduct & Personal Devices
We care for the atmosphere as much as the art.

We ask for respectful language at all times to ensure that everyone in the space feels comfortable.

You’re welcome to use your phone to listen to music or watch a movie during your session; we only ask that you avoid continuous texting or holding the device while we tattoo, as small involuntary movements can affect the precision of your piece.
Nutrition & Comfort
We encourage you to arrive well-fed, hydrated, and rested, and to bring anything that helps you feel at ease during your session. Light snacks and water are welcome, as long as they don’t interrupt the flow of the work.

The studio provides blankets and pillows for your comfort.

If you prefer to bring your own, please make sure they’re completely clean: a tattoo is an open wound, and maintaining a hygienic environment is essential for your safety and healing process.
Deposits
- The deposit is mandatory and varies based on the size and complexity of the tattoo.

- The deposit can be paid in cash, card, or via electronic transfer.

- The artist will begin designing only after receiving the deposit.

- The appointment is confirmed only after the deposit is received.

- The deposit will be deducted from the final payment once the tattoo is completed.

- Deposits are non-refundable under any circumstance.

- Deposits cover the design time and your reserved spot in the studio.

- If the client leaves the session before the scheduled time is completed without any justified reason, the deposit will be forfeited and will not be applied toward the final cost.
Rescheduling
– A minimum of 48 hours’ notice is required to reschedule

– One reschedule per deposit is permitted

– Cancellations or no-shows will result in loss of deposit

– Rescheduling requests made with less than 48 hours’ notice will be treated as a cancellation

– Rescheduled appointments must be rebooked within 30 days of the original appointment date. After this period, the deposit will no longer be valid.
Appointments
– Clients are expected to arrive on time

– Appointments begin at the scheduled time

– Late arrivals may result in a shortened session or cancellation, depending on the schedule

– No-shows will result in loss of deposit
Design Process

- The design process is guided by each artist’s methodology, creative direction, and the nature of the project.

- Designs may be developed digitally prior to the appointment, selected from available flash, or created freehand on the day of the session. We work best with clear and intentional ideas.

- References are welcome as a starting point, not as final outcomes. Minor adjustments are permitted; however, a change in concept that implies starting from scratch will require a new deposit.

- Design work begins only after the deposit has been received.

- Clients are expected to review the artist’s portfolio in advance to ensure their style and approach align with the desired outcome.
Pricing

- Pricing varies depending on the size, placement, complexity of the design, and the artist.

- Rates are structured per hour, per session, or as a flat rate, depending on the nature of the project.

- An estimated cost will be provided prior to sending your deposit.

- All estimates are based on the information provided and may vary depending on factors such as skin, placement, the final design, and the flow of the session.

- Final pricing is determined once the project is completed.
Ineligibility
* Clients under the age of 18 must be accompanied by a parent or legal guardian and provide written consent.

We cannot proceed with tattooing if you:

- Are under the influence of alcohol, illicit drugs, or strong sedatives.

- Present inadequate hygiene.

- Are pregnant or breastfeeding.

- Are taking medications such as blood thinners, immunosuppressants, or antibiotics.

- Are undergoing any other medical treatment. It is the client’s responsibility to inform themselves in advance about how this may affect the healing process, bleeding, or the skin’s response. If necessary, medical approval will be required before proceeding, which may result in the cancellation or rescheduling of the appointment and, consequently, the loss of the deposit.

- Are undergoing fertility treatments. Have hemophilia or related blood disorders.

- Have sunburn, open wounds, infections, or skin conditions affecting the area.
Medical Clearance
A doctor’s note is required prior to your appointment if you have any of the following conditions:

– Diabetes (Type I or II)
– Heart conditions
– Seizure disorders
– Serious skin or blood disorders
– Recent surgery
– Current or recent use of antibiotics
Important
- We reserve the right to refuse service on the day of your appointment if any of the above conditions apply.

- Failure to disclose relevant medical information, provide a required doctor’s note, or meet eligibility criteria will result in cancellation of the appointment. In this case, the deposit will be forfeited.

- La Black Mamba Studio is not responsible for complications resulting from undisclosed conditions or medications.

- All decisions are made in consideration of both client safety and the integrity of the work.
Touch-Ups
A complimentary touch-up is offered within a period of up to 4 months after the initial session, once the tattoo is fully healed.

- Touch-ups are intended to address minor inconsistencies in healing and are assessed on a case-by-case basis.

This policy applies only to tattoos that have been properly cared for following the provided aftercare instructions.

- Touch-ups do not apply to changes in design, additions, or modifications requested after the original session.

- Additional sessions required due to significant fading, poor aftercare, or changes in the skin are not considered touch-ups and will be charged accordingly.

- Touch-ups must be scheduled within the designated timeframe. Requests made outside of this period may be subject to additional cost.

Tattoos in flexion and friction areas like the neck, knee, elbow, wrist, hands, and feet are not covered by our guarantee.
Aftercare
Caring for your tattoo isn’t just about aesthetics; it’s vital for your health. A tattoo is essentially an open wound that needs proper care to avoid infection and ensure perfect healing. Here’s your step-by-step guide:

Keep the initial bandage on for 2 or 3 days, as instructed by your artist.
With clean hands, wash your tattoo with lukewarm water and fragrance-free neutral soap. Gently pat it dry with a paper towel—avoid fabric towels.
Apply a thin layer of artist-recommended ointment.
Wear loose clothing that does not rub or press on the tattooed area. Avoid the gym and excessive sweating.
Avoid direct sun exposure, tanning beds, seawater, swimming pools, hot tubs, or bathtubs. Excessive alcohol should also be avoided, as it may hinder healing.
Remember, a well-cared-for tattoo will keep its details sharp and colors vibrant.
If you have any concerns or notice anything unusual, consult your artist.
